We started out selling Nuby wide replacement spouts for the Nuby 2 handle 10oz sippy cup. More and more customers began to make us aware of how they could use these same wide spouts on the standard neck mason canning jars.

HERE IS THE WIDE SILICONE SPOUT WE ARE REFERRING TO:
The wide spout is made by Nuby. It is BPA free silicone and measures approximately 2 3/4 inch wide or 7cm as you can see from the ruler. This is the cup they actually fit on.

There are plenty of moms and dads who think that glass is better to use then plastic. So we tried it out ourselves. We bought 2 sizes of glass mason jars; a small 4oz green colored jar and a large, dark colored 8oz jar. Both jars were standard neck sizes and had the typical metal rims. We also found a very helpful blog to aid users in their attempts at using these spouts with their jars. You can visit the site here for more information:

We found that we were able to use the Nuby wide replacement spout on both jars, but we settled on using the smaller green jar because it was much lighter in weight and easier for a child to hold. Here is the jar.

This jar worked for us as is. It didn't leak and the spout seemed to fit well. Some users were still reporting that they were having trouble getting it to work. We were thinking that they were using the wrong size mason jar, but really don't know what the problem was. They were also saying that the lid seemed to pop off every once in awhile. We did not have that problem.
Another user found a solution for the popping off. You can see in this series of pictures below, how she cut one of the rims off of the spout to ensure a proper fit.

Step 2 - Trim only one of the rings off of the replacement spout. |
|
Step 3 - Shows the difference between the original wide nuby spout and one with the ring cut off. |
|
Step 4 shows the final product. The Nuby wide spout is securely attached to the rim and the jar. Success. |

Even with these instructions, not everyone seems to be successful. If you really want to use the glass jar, you can buy one already made up on Etsy. The store is called onerobinroad just in case the link stops working. Here is the link:

This store will sell the rims with the spouts and or the entire jar with the spout. They are best sellers for a reason.
We hope this has been helpful and answers many questions for you. This is a great way to go for parents who want medical grade silicone spouts but glass sippy cups. Remember, you can get the spouts for a discount from us at:
